Septic to Sewer Project Funding - Positive Picketing Tuesday, Oct. 13
Posted on Oct 10, 2020
The $2.2 million funding from FDEP (Florida Department of Environmental Protection) has failed to materialize. Please refer to the announcement below from Commissioner Moore. She has asked for our help in attending a "friendly" demonstration before Tuesday's Orange County Board Meeting. Commissioner Moore would like as many Sweetwater West HOA Board members and residents as possible to attend the demonstration.

Subject:*URGENT* I need your help on Tuesday, October 13th
Dear Wekiva Alliance,
I'm sending you this message to update you about our sewer conversion funding. At this point, we have failed to receive $2.2 million dollars from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), which unfortunately will kill the project for this year, and we will lose all the previously-approved grants.
At this moment, I need your help to get the attention of Gov. DeSantis and FDEP Sec. Noah Valenstein. The picket is our method.
So, could you please join me at a “friendly” picket on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020 just before the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meeting? We will meet from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at 201 S. Rosalind Ave, Orlando 32801. My staff will meet you out front of the building.
It is imperative that we show strong support from the people. We want to picket with placards and poster boards which say things like SAVE OUR SPRINGS or GOV. – WE NEED YOUR HELP or a similar phrase.
We must stay positive. Also, for those of you who like public speaking – we need folks to speak at the BCC Meeting at 9 a.m. to support Orange County Government continuing with their portion of the funding. This must happen even if we fail with the FDEP grants this year.
We have been successful with the citizens, state appropriation, and St. Johns Water Management District funding. We are stuck on the FDEP portion which is $2.2 million dollars. If the press picks up the story and we get the attention of the Governor, we have a good chance at getting the $2.2 million.
Sincerely,
Christine Moore
Orange County Commissioner District 2
